Zebra Originally A Hybrid Between A Horse And Some Other Animal?

and giraffes originally a hybrid between camels and leopards? I’ve heard this, is it true?

    No. There are three separate species of zebra, all of which are distinct from the horse, a different species. The scientific name of the giraffe is Giraffa camelopardalis – ‘camelopardalis’ does mean ‘camel-leopard’, referring vaguely to the appearance of the animal, and it’s even possible that people many years ago thought it was a camel-leopard hybrid, but this is certainly not the case. For one thing, crossing two different animals does not give you a new, self-sustaining species, it gives you a hybrid, which is usually sterile. For another, only closely-related species can breed in the first place, and camels and leopards are unrelated other than both being mammals.

    No. Zebras, horses, giraffes, camels, and leopards are all distinct species.

    nope just another type of species. like the polar bear is supposed to have evolved from a black bear.
