Would Ligers And Tigons Be Considered Wild Animals Or Domisticated Animals?

The liger is an offspring of a male lion and female tiger the ligon its the other way around.I heard that they cant survive in the wild coz of their size.I heard thats how the cave men domisticated the wolf now we have many breads of dogs.Is that the same with the liger and tigon.Could they be just big pets.

They are not sterile, and of course the cannot be truely domisticated, cite sigfred and roy.http://www.liger.org/http://wi-fizzle.com/shasta/

They are not domesticated! Domestication normally refers to animals that work/live in close company of humans for our benefit. Ligers and tigons may be captive animals (like in zoos) and cross bread, however if an average human was not extremely careful in the presence of an average (i.e. not trained) liger or tigon the human would likely be injured or killed. Compare the behavior of certain pets like dogs or horses with humans to ligers or tigons with humans.

The Liger made famous by Napoleon Dynamite, is not able to be domesticated. They are wild animals but were mixed-bred. Check out news articles from southeast Idaho. There was a location near Lava Hot Springs that had many Ligers and they all had to be put down due to the Ligers over running their keepers. A massive hunt was opened to remove these animals. As far as I’ve heard all Ligers were contained or exterminated. Though you will not see any alive in Idaho/Wyoming/Utah you can take a trip to BYU in Provo Utah to see what a Liger looked like. You can distinctly see the cross-bred features. It was an amazing animal. If you ever camp near Lava Hot Springs or the areas around you will be sure to hear the rumor that Ligers still roam the hills and mountains there.

they can’t breed again can they? I thought I read somewhere that they were sterile animals. If they is the case I would have to say they are neither.
    Exotic or bizarre, oh….. hybrid
