Tough division? I think you mean, “weak division.” The East is a tough division. We have ONE team under .500. The East is 50-36 against the Central. The 4th place team in the East has a better record than the 2nd place team in the Central. The wild card will not come out of the Central, it will come out of either the East (Rays or Yankees) or the West (A’s).

No but I think they can win the division. What was thought to be a tough division is, in reality pretty weak. I did pick the Tigers to win the division pre season thinking that they were one of the favorites to go to the world series. I don’t believe that now but they still have the talent to win the division. No wild card out of the AL Central.
Like it or not it will be the Red Sox and Yankees out of the AL East once again.

If Zumaya gets healthy and maybe they trade for Fuentez of the Rockies, which will close the game by the seventh, with tht kind of offense they might have a shot to climb up to the top of the division. I really dont see the socks staying on top, it is a great story, but Im not afraid of them.

Even though they have gone on a hot streak, they still haven’t proven that they can win against the Rays, who lead the wild card standings. They just don’t have enough pitching to survive this year unless Verlander starts performing and Dontrelle could show critics that ‘05 was not a fluke.

wild card? At the rate they are going they will win the Central outright. The Central is not as tough as it was the last 3-4 years. No one ran off with a big lead while the Tigers where stinking it up. Now that they have started to pitch and hit, the bullpen is getting healty. CWS better not stumble or the Tigers are going to roar right by them.

No. With the Yankees surging, 1st place Boston, and Tampa Bay hanging tough the wild card is coming out of the AL East.
Detroit will have to come out hot the second half and win the division out right if they want to see the post season.

Remember a few years ago when they were almost crowned the worst team in baseball history? I dont think they will be pulling off anything any time soon.

Well the Twins are going to beat them again just like last year for the AL Central spot lol. They might just pull off the Wildcard spot because who else would get the spot? Their lineup is pretty stacked.

They can, but will they, I don’t think so because their record against the teams in their own division is the worst among the other teams in division & their bullpen will cause them many close games

The Wildcard would be harder to win than the division.

I don’t think so, their pitching will keep them out of contention.

Doubtful. That team is a mess right now.

No team, outside the division winner in the AL Central is going to be a wild card team (playoff team).
