Why Does Gender Make A Difference In Interspecies Breeding? E.g Liger And Tigon?

There is a certain gene that is the growth gene and it also has a cutoff point. full grown timing. , male lions do not have this, or it is weaker, so they are bigger. Female tigers do not have this, or it is weaker, so they are larger than male tigers. When you take two animals with both weak or missing growth cut off genes,,,, you get a very big baby… Intro,, Liger. You can only get a Liger when you have the male lion and the female tiger. Not the other way around. They tried it, and they came out with a smaller Tigon. Weird wild stuff. lol.

It’s to do with the way certain genes are inherited. Some are inherited through the father, and others through the mother, meaning you can end up with quite different hybrids depending on which species was which parent. Hence, you get a liger if you cross a male lion and female tiger and a tigon if you cross a male tiger and female lion, or a mule if you cross a male donkey and female horse and a hinny if you cross a male horse and female donkey.

The convention is that the name of the male parent begins the hybrid child’s name.
Hence male lion and female tiger -> liger
Male tiger and female lion -> tion
But it can all get a bit silly with Zorse, Zedonk, Zebrass, Zenkey, Zonkey.http://creation.com/zenkey-zonkey-zebra-…http://creation.com/ligers-and-wholphins…
The important thing to note is that lions and tigers (and possibly many of the the other big cats) are all part of the same kind of animal. They have not evolved, but have arisen through natural selection and variation from the original created big cat kind.
