   liger or tigon
   i LOVE tigers and lions are cool. but i keep forgetting which one (liger,tigon) has the female tiger and which has the female lion.
   thats how they are different you know

   I dont think any of the hybrids are “cool”. In fact I am flabergasted that those who claim to care for wild animals would allow such atrocities to happen. Hybridization removes the possibility of using those new animals for reproduction and reintroduction programs to help their wild cousins. As it is, the majority of animals in captivity are too intermingled to use for reintroduction programs so to hybridize any animal is even more irresponsible.

   none, it is irresponsible, selfish and unethical to create these hybrids through human manipulations. If it were to have happened in the wild fair enough, but these hybrids tend to be created by humans merely to entertain us. On a parallel to ‘swimming with dolphin’ parks where dolphins either caught from the wild or descended from those that were and used to entertain tourists with often little regard for educating the public and reintroductions to the wild. Zoos and marine parks play a very important role in wildlife conservation and public education, but should not be abused just to make a bit of money.
