A tigon is when the tiger is the more dominant Donner (father) and the lion is the lesser (mother), where as a liger is when the tiger is the mother and the lion is the father. Dunno for sure, sorry bud. not a bad guess though
A liger is the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger. A tigor is the offspring of male tiger and female lion. If you are stuck for an answer at any time go to the Wikipedia website. alternatively, ring London Zoo in Regents Park London.
the sire has the first part of the word and the dam has the second part
Most of these answers are correct. But they all left one thing out. Liger’s, genetically, lean toward gigantism. Tigon’s lean toward dwarfism. Now, that’s an interesting fact to work on!!!
Just google. Folk’s here are a bit short on facts. Yep, that was a pun – but the info isn’t. I work with exotic cats.
A male African lion (Panthera leo) and a female tiger (Panthera tigris) can mate to produce a liger. The reverse cross produces a tigon. Such crossing does not normally happen in the wild because most lions live in Africa and most tigers live in Asia. Also, lions and tigers just don’t mix; they are enemies in the wild. However, the Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (USA), raised a lion and a tigress together. Arthur, the lion, and Ayla, the tigress, became good friends and bred to produce Samson and Sudan, two huge male ligers. Samson stands 3.7 m (12 feet) tall on his hind legs, weighs 500 kg (1,100 lbs) and can run at 80 km/hr (50 mph).http://www.creationontheweb.com/content/…

Also described in link above.
I am dyslexic what wrong with these spellings ?
Alright smartar$e: Liger = Lion is Daddy
Tigon = Tiger is Daddy
How do you feel about your ‘clever’ question now?
A liger has a lion father, a tigon has a tiger father, heres some links:
father lion + mother tiger = liger
father tiger + mother lion = tigon
With a liger, the lion is the male and the tiger is the female..With a tigon, the male is a tiger and the female is a lioness, Hope this helps.ciao.
and it can swim and a tigon cant swim
