What do you think about hybrid human-animal embryo?

Some ethical questions:
1. Who will be responsible for the abuse of such science at the hands of the Scientists or the capitalists.
2. We’ve already seen the abuse and the gross misuse of the Nuclear Energy since its discovery. you just visit the sites which tell you all about neclear waste that is dumped in third world countries.
3.Experiment of the pharmaceutical products on third world country people is well known. (http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Health/Globalizing_DrugResearch.html)
4. Flooding the third world markets with inorganic foods.
5. Will the British parliament take responsibility for what happens after it approves the research on human-animal embryo?
Under the guise of personal freedom the scienetists will cross the boundaries of all decency & morality, don’t u think so?

The human animal’s embryo? This is very deep. I see the human as seperate from animals. They should not be mixed by wacko scientists. Ethically wrong all the way.

science has gone too far nowadays.
    i don’t think it’s a need.
humans shouldn’t be mixed with animals.
that’s just going to create monsters.

I don’t think that humans and animals should be directly mixed….. but I do like the idea of enhancing some animals to reach sentience. We know that some apes and dolphins are highly intelligent and it would be interesting (if not useful) to attempt to increase their intelligence artificially. Perhaps in so doing we could find a way to increase our own mental capacity which IMO is sorely needed.

Imagine a navy which included intelligent dolphins who could aid in surveillance or transport? Or an army fighting in a jungle with intelligent chimpanzees leading the way?

The question that arises with this would be one of treatment. If an animal were to reach sentience with our assistance what would be our responsibility. Personally I think we would need to be prepared to shoulder a great deal of responsibility and would immediately need to spell out the animals rights as equal to that of humans (if their mental capacity were relatively similar). The chances of abuse is almost certain, but that is the case with any and every science. That does not mean we should halt progress, but we should rather endevor to be more responsible with it.

Also, my distinction between people and animals is purely one of mental capacity. Humans ARE animals and have no intrinsic superiority to them beyond our brains (and perhaps our thumbs).

I think human beings should stop messing with Nature. The Universe is so ancient and we are so young that we could have no idea of what we are doing. It is completely arrogant of some people to claim so much knowledge of how Nature works that they would tamper with it in such fundamental ways.
