under tank heater for leopard gecko?

i got an under tank heater. its an Exo Terra Heatwave Desert Terrarium Substrate Heater. it works really well, but i recently got a therostat. its an Zoo Med ReptiTemp 500R Remote Sensor Thermostat. it seems to work good, but also when then heat pad is set to like 85-90 and i put my hand over the reptile carpet it dont feel hot at all, i mean its a little warm. im just worried its not hot enough for my leo. can they feel the heat fine even tho i cant?

try using a temp gun to see if where it will be is hot enough. Reptile carpet can sometimes be misleading.

Yes, your leopard gecko will feel the heat and will be happy with the temperature you are providing him with. Buying a thermostat for the UTH was a great idea because sometimes the UTH can get pretty hot and burn your gecko. Everything will be fine as long as you have the warm side between 85°F-90°F and the cool side between 75°F-85°F.

    Hope this helps!!!

Rule is if you can feel it through the tank then its too hot. Remember what feels like 80f to you can feel like 100f to them! The repti temp is ok, the only prob is it does not have number settings really, just color but it gets the job done.

Get a infra red temp gun and a digital probe thermometer to test your temps out. You should never guess temps.
