Should the Lions keep Kitna?Or should they start looking for a new QB for next season?
I know the Lions fired their offensive coordinator, but isn’t it more important for them to focus on their players. I think the Lions would do much better with a different QB. Granted their defense isn’t that great, but if you look at their WR’s they should do much better. Kitna talks a lot, but I don’t see him ever having better than average seasons & he’s getting old.

I think the Lions have no hope no matter what unless Ford sells out. He needs to give it up. It boils down to him.
keep him he was great last year why wouldnt you keep him
yeah i agree, they could get som out rookie free agency, u never kno there might be a good quaterback. look at derek anderson lucky he even got drafted, chris leak i think was a good qb, bad for chicago to have released him. They should keep him, and then get another qb to start.
Kitna is a Mark Brunell type and would be a great vet on the bench teaching a young guy. I say they need a new QB…maybe Derek Anderson.
I think they should start with a rookie quarterback
like
the tigers quarterback
hawaii’s quarter back
these guys all kick ass
They definitely need a new QB. Jon Kitna just isnt very good. I mean less TDs than INTs? Thats not going to do. And he seems like a dickhead to me.
I think Kitna makes a very good “journeyman”, until a team can find their QB of the future.
kitna is too old, he makes too many mistakes, and he doesnt fit the team. he needs to go along with ford and millen
FIRE MILLEN 08 IS HERE!
GO LIONS! GO BOLTS!
I just want them to be able to recruit a good QB. They have such a bad rep. All they need is a steady one. One that won’t get all nervous and can throw. We have all we can ask for in a kicker. It’ll happen some day! Look at the Tigers!
They should draft a QB in the 1st round and let Kitna be the starter for one more year while the rookie learns the offense. Kitna is a very good QB and he’ll benefit from an improved o-line and a running game.
Kitna is solid, and above average, and would probably had a better year if he wasn’t put on the ground so much.I say get a veteran left tackle and guard, and give him another year.
As a Bengals fan, I say starting looking for another QB. Kitna is a good mentor and leader, but should not be a starting QB. He causes way too many turnovers and is too “streaky”. He’ll put together 5 or 6 good games, but then completely fall apart.
Best thing would be to get a good young QB and have Kitna mentor him, as the Bengals did with Carson Palmer.
Kitna has had a good season and I would think he could play a few more years. If i was Rod Marinelli I would try to trade with the Browns to possibly get Brady Quinn or I would draft a QB in the first round
They should have drafted Brady Quinn and not Calvin Johnson. But this year I guess they could try to trade up to get a QB this year.
i think someone should buy the lions and move them somewhere. they haven’t won anything in years and they have no fan support. they’re a waste of space and credibility to the nfc north.
Kitna is not the problem. The problem is the offensive line that fails to protect Kitna. The Lions need to invest in some good, solid linemen.
They should look for a new GM, running back, tight end, guard, corner, safety, and a quarterback.
the lions should keep kitna but only for another year. they should try and draft a good quarterback from the crop this year or see whos available free agent wise. But the should look for a younger quarterback who can be there with that group of young receivers for a few years. if they address the quarterback problem this off season and work on getting a better o-line then when the new qb takes over the starting job in 09 that team will be ready to play in the nfc north.
bill clay for jr needs to sell the team. the lions could have the entire patriots team and still not win. matt milin needs to quite as well. heres the thing…ford is making so much money from the lions. they have crappy players (crappy players are paid less than superstars) so they have less expenses. they dont even need to advertise for their games. people dont go to lion’s games to see the lions anymore. they go to see the other team. either way though ford is getting money from selling the tickets. im 17 and i realize this. its time every1 else did and stopped showing to the games. once ford steops down the team will right itself.
I think they’ll draft a mobile QB like Dennis Dixon, or whatever. they got a great group of receivers, and defense idk if it’s good or not, they could waltz their into the playoffs next year. maniac04 made a great point, they should trade kitna for quinn, it’s win-win for both teams, kitna can teach anderson at the side line, quinn is mobile enough to excape, or at least young enough to excape, kitna is so old.
I thought Drew Stanton was supposed to be the QB of the future? Personally, I think that they need some offensive linemen before switching quarterbacks.
they should draft one this year. those WR would be great with a average QB
bring back joey harrington!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kitna has had a solid season. This draft, they should try to get some solid linemen. You can’t put all the blame on kitna. With the line they have, he did good. These people that say to trade up for a QB in the 1st round must of forgoten that they drafted Drew Stanton last year in the second round. Maybe drafting Stanton wasn’t a good call but he should have a chance.
The Detroit Lions will give Drew Stanton a chance next year, and he will beat out Kitna or anyone else they consider.
Stanton would be the QB now, except for a dumb decision by John L Smith of MSU at the Aloha bowl.
