Is The Asiatic Cheetah Extinct In The Wild?

Filed in Category Cheetahs

Not really but not yet.The Asiatic cheetah is rarely seen in places like Iran. There might be as few as a hundred left in the wild. Zoos’ don’t tend to care for Asiatic cheetahs’ as they classify them as normal African cheetahs’.That is why some people will tell you that there are many Asiatic cheetahs’ in the wild because they classify them as common African cheetahs’. But the Asiatic cheetah is holding on to a thread. It doesn’t have time left. Over hunting is making their number dwindle as their fur is a fortune over there.

In Iran, there are 50 – 60 left in the wild. They were thought to be extinct in Pakistan, but there have been unconfirmed sightings of them there recently, and the dead body of one found there as well. There are none in captivity. Here’s some info. about them.http://www.america.gov/st/washfile-engli… http://www.wwfpak.org/sc_asiaticcheetah.…
