Hi there… it is possible, but not advisable. The cost of the cat isn’t the issue, rather it’s the time and cost for their care which is quite exorbitant and not to mention more difficult than anyone realizes.
Please consider reading the following which outlays what it takes to take care of “any” exotic cat: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
Here’s an excerpt regarding this: ere you will find some guidelines to owning an exotic cat. Please don’t be fooled into believing that it will be any less work that having children! It is not for everyone. Don’t make the mistake of believing that if you can’t endure for the lifetime of your cat, you will be able to place it at a zoo or a wildlife rescue. This misconception is what gets a lot of exotic animals euthanised immediately because they are very hard to place. Zoos are full to capacity and also have strict requirements on the animals that they acquire for studbook breeding purposes and AZA (American Zoos and Aquariums Association) regulations. Compounds like Wild About Cats, Big Cat Rescue have to rescue some, but there are simply not enough sanctuaries for them all. Therefore, taking into consideration that many people are determined to get a cat no matter what they are told, and that many people are capable of being responsible owners, we always advise on captive husbandry. We would rather that these people were educated properly on care and handling, rather than dictated to that what they are doing is wrong. This is for the sake of the cats that did not ask to be born into these situations. If after reading through this information you would like to know more about captive wild cat husbandry and whether or not it is for you.
    See link for full information.

Wild cats are WILD, meaning they are not meant to be kept in the confines of people. If you love these animals and want to dedicate your life to them, donate the money that is apparently not a problem to organizations dedicated to researching these cats, preserving habitat, and preserving the population in the wild. Owning a wild animal is just the greediness of man trying to always get what is not rightfully his.

If you wanted to dedicate your life to these wild and threatened species, you would not be looking to purchase one. That is a large problem when it comes to these creatures- poachers kill them for their hides and take the cubs for those seeking exotic pets and illegally import them.
Why not pick up a BS in Zoology and Ecology and see about getting into breeding programs and study at a zoo or in the wild?

It is cruel to keep them as pets! and very dnagerous, they can never be tamed and are so unpredictable. If you want to seriously dedicate your life to a wild cat, donate to a good big cat charity or maybe get a job at a zoo!

Donate all your money to a zoo or conservation group. Sometimes the zoo will let you “adopt” (ie: sponser) the animal of your choice. It is really foolish to try and keep a wild cat as a pet!
