A liger is the offspring of a lion and a tiger. They are sterile (unable to breed).
They leave through a very large flap in the door.

The liger is the largest cat in the world! But it is not a species, it is from a male lion, to a female tiger...
Here are pics....http://www.flickr.com/photos/andycarvin/…http://www.flickr.com/photos/lightningba…http://www.flickr.com/photos/dayngr/2254…
They can probably be found in zoos, but never in the wild.

A liger is the offspring of a male lion and female tiger, whilst the offspring of a male tiger and female lion is called a tigon. These hybrids do not exist in the wild - they are created in captivity by housing a lion and tiger together, often from a young age, so that when the female comes into season they will mate. Ligers tend towards gigantism and are usually larger than either of their parents, whilst tigons are generally smaller or at least no larger than their parents.
Like most hybrids, ligers and tigons are usually sterile, but occasionally a female will be fertile and can be bred back to a male lion or tiger, producing:
Lion + liger = li-liger
Lion + tigon = li-tigon
Tiger + liger = ti-liger
Tiger + tigon = ti-tigon
Note that reputable zoos frown on the breeding of hybrids like ligers and tigons as they have no value from a conservation point of view, and are taking up space and resources that could be used to breed endangered species. They are basically freaks bred to make money out of those people willing to pay to see them.
