Does Anyone Know The Worldwide Population For Tigons. And The World Population Of Ligers?

Filed in Category Answers about Ligers

No but it would be incredibly few (ie 10’s ) as they both only ever occur in zoos (as they would naturally never occur together or be able to “get together” due to different mating behaviours, natures etc…In zoos many animals will get together after being forced to live together or are deliberately put together to mate.

Since both of these animals are hybrids of the
lion and tiger they can hardly be said to have a
population. So far as I know all of them that
exist are in zoos, or perhaps circuses or private
menageries. Hybrids of these two species in
the wild are probably nonexistent because the
lion and tiger have different geographic ranges,
which overlap only in a small area in India, where a small population of lions still exists.

I’ve never even heard of a Tigon until now and they have been around forever.
I don’t know the popluation for either but there must be lots since they have been around for hundreds of years.
