   Both are hybrids of a lion and a tiger (occurs at zoos). A liger is the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger. A tigon is the just the opposite- offspring of a male tiger and female lion.
   The reason you hear more about ligers than tigons is because ligers are healthier, and live longer. (It has something to do with the tigon’s heart being to big generally).
