   Are you talking about when a Lion and Tiger have cubs? Because most of the time the mix creates a sterile offspring, and that is not a new species. Part of being a species is being able to breed with other members of the species.

   Ligers aren’t mythical actually. But I doubt they have a genius and species name. I would say that they were just hybrids.

   Their genus is Panthera, same as the parents. They are a hybrid not a new species so don’t have a species name.
