Creating a canine character; what breeds should I use?

I draw lots of canine characters (my own, of course) and I’ve only been using wolves and wild dogs. I really want to make a dog character. I want a hybrid, so only two breeds. Maybe three if the idea is interesting. Thanks!

in otherwords you want a mutt because that is what happens when you mix 2 or more breeds together. Just look on the internet for mixed breeds just don’t go trying to mix a small breed to a large breed because that would never work.

Maybe for just starting out a German Shepherd or a Husky and for practice with ears maybe a beagle? Also I’d steer clear of greyhound and whippets for a while they are pretty dogs but since their coat is so thin all of their muscles stand out and also their ears flip out to the side in a weird way.

I would study different breed personalities — that way U could better decide on a character that would do the things U want to draw, and have your dog character do the things U want him to do.

Go on a few of the rescue websites. Look at the pictures of the mixes. There are many adorable, comic, interesting faces of dogs in all shapes and sizes.
Find some that speak to you.
