Yes, lions and tigers can interbreed. The offspring of a male lion and female tiger is called a liger, whilst the offspring of a male tiger and female lion is called a tigon. Ligers tend towards gigantism and are usually larger than either of their parents, whilst tigons are usually smaller than or at least no larger than their parents. Like most hybrids, ligers and tigons are normally sterile, but occasionally a female will be fertile (there is no record of fertile males) and can be bred back to a male lion or tiger, producing:
    Lion + liger = li-liger
    Lion + tigon = li-tigon
    Tiger + liger = ti-liger
    Tiger + tigon = ti-tigon
Reputable zoos frown on the breeding of hybrids such as ligers and tigons, since they have no value from a conservation point of view and are taking up space and resources that could be used to breed endangered species.

Yes, they actually can. They don’t in the wild because of the long distances between their habitats. Africa and India. They have a Liger. There have been many of them breed in captivity. They grow to huge sizes because of the genetic defect in their growth code. and they are sterile so they cannot have any offspring.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liger

both can give the sperm. It can be a male lion female tiger, or male tiger female lion
male Lion + female Tiger = Liger
male Tiger + female Lion = Tigon
they have made ligers before but they are sterile so they can’t mate to have cubs.
