Are Ligers Real?


ok me and my bf are having dorky discussions about ligers. lol. He says theyre not real, but is there really such things as ligers?

    yes. Science once crossed a Lion and a Tiger and they called it a Liger. Most people don’t know that, so it was supposed to show how dorky Napeloen Dynamite was.

    Yes, but ligers are like mules, they are sterile.

    The liger is a hybrid cross between a male Panthera leo (lion), and a female Panthera tigris (tiger) and is denoted scientifically as Panthera tigris × Panthera leo.[1][2] A liger resembles a giant lion with diffused stripes. They are the largest cats in the world, although the Siberian Tiger is the largest pure sub-species. Like tigers, but unlike lions, ligers enjoy swimming. A similar hybrid, the offspring of a male tiger and a female lion is called a tigon.

    Not only are they real, but so are tigons (Tiger father, Lion mother).
