Ligers are indeed real. They are the result of a female tiger and a male lion. Ligers are enormous animals standing 12 feet tall on it’s hind legs. Check out this website for pictures and further description.
The people on here are wrong, the males can not reproduce, the females can. Also they are not a “creation” of man. The first liger mated on their own, though they were in zoos, their keepers did not make them mate or artificially inseminate them.
I had the same question too after seeing Napoleon Dynamite so I researched it, that’s how I know all this stuff. All confirmed by the website below, which also lists all other known big cat combinations.

Yes they are real. They even sometimes happen the old-fashioned way (at least in captivity) rather than through artificial insemination. Lions and tigers are genetically close enough that inter-breeding can be successful. This doesn’t happen in nature because in nature they would never meet, living in different parts of the world. A male lion with a female tiger produces a liger. A male tiger with a female lion produces a tigon, but these are much rarer. Male ligers are sterile, but female ligers have reproduced with the help of male lions or tigers, producing li-ligers or ti-ligers. Here’s one website where you can see pictures and learn more.

Sorry, they are Hollywood…but there was a recent bear shot in Canada which was a mix between a Grizly and a Polar bear – highly irregular – an American hunter shot it.

ligers are the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger. They are very real not created in the wild but in captivity.

They are real, just a mixed breed between a lion and a tiger, a hybrid. They cannot reproduce, though, just like a mule can’t.
