The Ligers are beautiful animals, but there are defiinately pros and cons to the genetic tampering that is being done. Yes, they may be able to learn something that may help in the future with other species, but at the same time, we also don't really know what we are doing playing God. How can we as the human race create something when we don't even know everything about ourselves, let alone a different species. At this point, the Liger males are sterile and cannot reproduce, so the only offspring would be from liger females and other lion or tigers, but eventually that will change because nature will always find a way to reproduce. When that happens we don't know what will happen, especially in nature if any of them were introduced to the wild. So even though they may be gorgeous creatures, the future implications of it are unknown and possibly terrifying.

It seems that these Liger creatures are an anomaly to the grand scheme of the tree of evolution. (see "taxonomy" in any Biology science text) Ethically, i would have to agree that genetic engineering can straddle the fence between morality too easily. From a religious perspective, evolution should be left in the hands of the Source of All Things. However, from the scientific perspective, it is exteme facination, due, in part, to its surreal-ness. I don't think anyone can honestly say to themselves that they wouldn't treasure the experience of being in the presence of such a divine animallian spirit. The pride of a Lion with the Powerful Cunning of a Tigress= Liger.
I heard: 1) Ligers are only Male, 2) Ligers are born sterile and cannot produce offspring, 3) Ligers are as big as, or bigger than, the now extinct; Sabertooth-ed Tiger
     >>>>>>Someone Prove me wrong>>> evan.vega@mail.laguardia.edu
thankyou

i think that liger and tigons shouldnt be bred fair enough they look cute and are amazing but we are beginning to mess around with mother nature too much here and she is a bitch and can bite us back one day.

i study animal collection managementat college and maybe in the future these wonderful animals could save our wild populations from going extinct but there can be serious genetic traits in these animals with them being interbred with eachother. animals these days are being taken for granted like the new dog breeds we create just for the looks of them.

but im not saying i diagree with the whole thing im just pointing out trhe good and bad points on the liger and tigon breding programs.
and hope that other people can see and take a step back and think about the animals welfare and what we are dealing with.
